Vanderpump Rules: Brittany Cartwright learned from the best
By Amanda Cline
As the Vanderpump Rules reunion came to a close, Brittany Cartwright started to show her true colors to the rest of the cast – and they were ugly.
The final episode of the Vanderpump Rules reunion came and went, with a realization about Brittany Cartwright and her husband, Jax Taylor. When Brittany first joined the group, she was quiet and tiny in stature. She followed Jax around and waited for her cue to talk, even following him into SUR to get a job from Lisa Vanderpump. She followed him to the plastic surgeon’s office for a new set of boobs. It was all downhill from there.
Brittany doesn’t follow Jax anymore. She’s right beside him with her extreme Kentucky accent. ”I’m the best I’ve ever been!” Jax shouted at Andy Cohen, eyes bulging, sweat dripping down his puffy head. Anytime Brittany said anything while sitting beside her, he shushed her. “Don’t contradict me.”
“Brittany, is it daunting that you are going to have to apologize for Jax’s behavior for the rest of your life?” Brittany agreed it was hard, and Jax freaked out. Andy went on to say that this is the eighth reunion he and Andy have done together, and Jax is saying the same things he always says. He means nothing.
Unfortunately, Brittany has painted herself into a corner and the only one on her side is Jax. She claims her friends don’t “love her” anymore because Jax told her they don’t. All of their “friends” on the show are afraid to upset Brittany so they didn’t say anything about Jax. The gaslighting is real, you guys. Brittany learned from the best how to play the victim just like Jax.
Jax seems to have created this alternate reality where any sort of negative comment is seen as an attack on “them.” Instead of Brittany realizing this is because Jax and his behavior are problematic, she takes it as an attack and further clings to Jax. This continues to push everyone else away and brings them closer together.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem that there’s a way out for Brittany. It also doesn’t seem like she wants a way out. When her friends try to be honest with her, she cries. That’s not how real friendships work, but who am I kidding? This is Vanderpump Rules, after all. Nothing is real here.
Vanderpump Rules is on Bravo….for reruns.
