Bravo: Andy Cohen should allow someone else to be moderator

Andy Cohen has always been the moderator for Bravo reunions, but perhaps it is time to have someone else with more knowledge in the mix?

If you have ever watched a reunion show for any show on Bravo, you will see Andy Cohen in the middle of the couches – and the drama.  It has become increasingly clear in recent years that Andy’s heart just isn’t in it any longer.  Last year during the Below Deck reunion, it was obvious Andy had no idea what had actually transpired during the season.

While Kate Chastain was being harassed, kissed, yelled at, and kicked with sand, Andy acted like Kate had done all of these things to herself.  He gave the boys a pass but hammered down on Kate hard.  Fans were not thrilled with his inability to be impartial, and it certainly seemed like he had not watched anything from the show.  Kate left the show shortly after the reunion aired.

During the recent Real Housewives of Potomac reunion, Andy came down hard on Monique Samuels but gave Candiace Dillard Bassett and Michael Darby no pause.  Ashley Darby received the most ridiculous softball questions similar to “what’s your favorite ice cream flavor?”  Meanwhile, Michael was clearly filmed, on multiple cameras, through multiple seasons, assaulting people, and Andy barely batted an eye at it.  Monique’s story was backed up by footage that was played back for us at home, but Andy was clearly on team Candiace.

He seems to promote and enjoy bad behavior, purely from a ratings standpoint.  When he should make a show of having someone’s back, he instead gets verbally aggressive, often in the form of “questions from fans!”  He claims that he is no longer involved in the creation of the shows or casting, but it shows.  He came at LeeAnne Locken of The Real Housewives of Dallas and Vicki Gunvalson of The Real Housewives of Orange County like they murdered someone on screen, but Thomas Ravenel and the cast of Southern Charm get patted on the back for the same behaviors.  Thomas was actually convicted of many crimes, including charges for cocaine and assault.

If Andy cannot be impartial to the people he is sitting down with, they should find someone that can.  It makes the network look misogynistic and ignorant.  By these standards, the Michael Darby’s of the world are free to come onto a Bravo show and get paid to grab the butts of members of production.

If all Andy does is wake up early and read some cue cards before interrogating the cast, anyone can do that.  Heck, pick a fan out of a hat and they would do a better job.  Andy has done a lot for the network and for the shows, but it seems like his heart is no longer in it.  Andy, we release you.  Thanks for all your hard work!

Tune in to Bravo for the latest episode of The Real Housewives.
