RHOBH: Erika Girardi received millions in loans intended for victims
By Amanda Cline
The full complaint filed against Erika Girardi and Tom Girardi has been released and facts do not look good for the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills couple.
It recently came out that Erika Girardi and her husband, Tom Girardi, are being sued for allegedly embezzling money from the families of victims of a plane crash. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star is in some big trouble if what they are alleging is true. Edelson PC released the full complaint filed on behalf of the families of flight Lion Air Flight 610 and it isn’t good.
Below is just one small tidbit of the complaint from pages two and three of the document, calling out the divorce as a sham to protect their money, and claiming that Erika’s company has been receiving millions of dollars in loans from the account set up for the victims.
"“While Erika publicly filed for divorce this month, on information and belief, that…’divorce’ is simply a sham attempt to fraudulently protect Tom’s and Erika’s money from those that seek to collect on debts owed by Tom and his law firm GK. This would not be the first attempt by Tom to hide and divert assets. Indeed, in a likely violation of the California Uniform Fraudulent Transfer Act…Defendant Jayne’s company, Defendant EJ Global, has allegedly received tens of millions in “loans” directly from Defendant GK, of which Tom is the sole equity shareholder.”"
It goes on to explain that Tom’s wealth has slowly been dwindling and his luck has run out, much like his money. The money that was promised to the victims has slowly been embezzled to family, friends, creditors, and lenders. It also claims that Tom has taken massive loans to fund his law firm but actually spent them on their luxurious lifestyle.
While most people accused of something as serious as embezzlement would probably lay low, Erika decided it was a good idea to share a photo of herself captioned “High drama.” It seems she isn’t too worried about it!
The complaint also references a similar lawsuit by Stillwell Madison for a defaulted loan in the amount of $5,847,411. When you google Stillwell Madison, one of the first links is to an article from the United States Malpractice Lawyers Network titled Be Careful When Hiring Celebrity Lawyers, superficially referencing Tom Girardi and his shady dealings.
It sounds like Tom is simply using money gathered from other cases to pay off previous loans and payments, just to continue doing the same thing over and over again. It seems his luck has run out and he can no longer cover his tracks fast enough. The document cites an article by the Daily Breeze that claims Tom has been involved in similar suits 22 times since 1995.
If this is all true, and it seems likely that it is true, Erika’s lifestyle is about to change pretty quickly. Seeing as they are filming right now, this should get interesting quickly. Will Erika leave the show before further incriminating herself and her XXpen$ive self.
Erika Girardi & The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills will be back next year on Bravo.
