RHOBH: What would have happened if Denise Richards didn’t return?
By Amanda Cline
Imagine what the storyline would have been if Denise Richards didn’t participate in season 10 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills?
While the rest of us were catching bits and pieces of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills filmed events on social media, obviously a lot was going on behind the scenes, especially with Denise Richards Filming began for last season at the usual time but seemed to extend much further than usual. Back in Nov. 2019, we questioned if the season was so boring that they needed every housewife friend in the book to stir up some drama. Well, it turns out that was exactly the case.
It was around November that we knew Kim Richards, Camille Grammer, Brandi Glanville, Eileen Davidson and Kris Richards were a part of filming. Production wanted us to believe that the events with Kim and Brandi at Kyle Richards house happened in early Nov., even though most signs point to it being filmed much closer to December.
It seems like someone, i.e. Kyle, heard rumors about Denise and Brandi and decided to run with it. But they had already filmed for at least two, maybe even three months, at that point. Literally nothing happened that was worth airing?
Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave’s All in by Teddi retreat was in Oct. 2019 according to an article by Bravo. Imagine in Denise didn’t film at all. All we would have had was Kyle doing splits, Teddi eating 500 calories a day and being pregnant, and Lisa Rinna using her daughter’s disordered eating for attention. Oh, and Kyle would have dragged out the issue of Garcelle Beauvais not paying immediately at the charity event.
If nothing else, Denise carried the entire season due to nothing else noteworthy happening. So where would we be right now if Denise didn’t return for season 10? Perhaps we would have gotten some new cast members already and would have overthrown the RHOBH royalty. Perhaps we would have a stronger cast prepared and the show would be interesting again.
Maybe Denise would be in a better place, too. Sure, she made a lot of money being badgered by these atrocious women, but was it worth it? No matter the case, she clearly came out on top. We will miss you, Denise, but we sure don’t blame you.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills reunion part 3 airs Wednesday, September 16.
