D’Andra Simmons says The Real Housewives of Dallas is going to tackle Brandi Redmond’s “squinty eye” video in the upcoming season.

According to Page Six, D’Andra Simmons spoke out about the upcoming Real Housewives of Dallas season 5 and said that Brandi Redmond’s racist video will be a major topic.  LeeAnne Locken was let go after season 4 because of her racially insensitive comments, mostly aimed at Kary Brittingham.  When Brandi’s video re-surfaced, courtesy of LeeAnne herself, people were not thrilled with Brandi.

The video showed Brandi mocking the eye shape of individuals, calling them “squinty.”  NBC News has the original Tweet from Steve Kemble – LeeAnne’s friend and wedding planner.  She apologized, checked into a “wellness center” and laid low for like, two weeks.  But D’Andra says that Brandi was not exempt from dealing with the repercussions of her actions during filming.

D’Andra said it was important that they addressed what happened first thing.  “We can’t just sweep it under the rug, especially since it was such a big deal for people and they were very upset about it.”

Filming is just about done for the season and they have two additional ladies joining the cast.  Tiffany Moon and Jennifer Davis have both been seen at events but it isn’t confirmed who, if anyone, is a full-time cast member yet.

D’Andra and her husband, Jeremy Lock,  have been working on a different kind of project.  They co-produced the movie “My Brothers’ Crossing,” a tragic real story about an auto accident that killed two people.  C.J. Martin was an African American man that killed a “Caucasian couple named Bobby and Pam Clark,” according to the Franklin News-Post.

Jeremy used to be a photojournalist, while D’Andra apparently studied directing at both the American Film Institute and UCLA.  D’Andra and her husband thought the movie would resonate with people, including RHOD fans.  It should be interesting to see how that ties in with everything.

The Real Housewives of Dallas will be back on Bravo later this year.
