RHOBH: Denise Richards thinks this was all for shock value
By Amanda Cline
Denise Richards is not new to the games in Hollywood but she is new to the games on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
In an exclusive preview from Us Weekly for the next episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Denise Richards sat down with her old friend Lisa Rinna to discuss the alleged affair with Brandi Glanville. Since Lisa and Denise have been friends for so long, Denise probably felt more comfortable discussing the rumors with her. Too bad Lisa was just waiting to sell her out as soon as possible.
Lisa asked Denise to tell her what went down between the two and Denise was pretty frank about the whole situation. “I’ve seen her a couple times in my life,” she said to Lisa. Denise noted that Brandi wanted to do a podcast but she was out of town, so she asked if she could come and interview the cast wherever they were. Production showed a photo of the two of them labeled, “Six months earlier.”
Lisa inquired how long Brandi was there, and initially, Denise said, “I don’t know, actually. Maybe a day. I think she stayed overnight.” Denise said she hadn’t tried contacting Brandi and said she was going to handle that in a different manner, aka, legal action. She was very clear that her marriage to Aaron Phypers is not open, and she has not cheated on him at any point.
Denise said she thought that Brandi was spilling this information for shock value. And with shock value comes time on a hit television show! And with that comes more views on social media, and more listeners on Brandi’s podcast.
Without breaking the fourth wall again, Denise seems pretty tuned in to the fact that this rumor was going to make for big headlines and bigger ratings. She’s been in the industry long enough to know when she’s being used for someone else’s benefit, and it seems clear that was Brandi’s goal here.
While Denise was trying to minimize the rumors and squash them via her legal team, Brandi has been far from cooperative. She released private text messages between them, has not stopped tweeting about the incident and has stuck to her story.
But Brandi also spends a lot of her time complaining that she doesn’t have money because she’s wrapped up in random lawsuits. Don’t you think, perhaps, at some point, someone like Brandi would learn when enough is enough?
Or is dragging her own reputation through the mud along with someone else’s reputation just a favorite pastime of hers? There are only so many bridges you can burn before you find yourself alone on an island.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is on Bravo on Wednesdays at 9 PM ET.
