Below Deck Med: Kiko made 72 plates look easy, Rob made us cry

The seas were calm and the sailing was smooth for this week’s episode of Below Deck Mediterranean, even with 72 plates for one dinner.

Though the crew might not get along on a personal level, everyone on Below Deck Mediterranean seems to be working fairly well together so far.  The group, save for Pete Hunziker, is being respectful and working hard under the leadership of Sandy Yawn, Malia White, and Hannah Ferrier.  Pete is just trying to hook up with anyone that will look at him (which is no one).

Christine “Bugsy” Drake is doing everything Hannah can’t as the second chief stew (as Hannah put it) and seems to be taking off some of the stress.  She even showed up half an hour early to her shift (annoying but helpful).  Hindrigo “Kiko” Lorran made the 72 plate meal for 12 guests, including bacon ice cream, look easy as bacon pie.  He seems to work well under serious pressure.

Often times, viewers get to know the deck crew men less than the interior crew women.  On the most recent episode, we got to know a little more of Robert Westergaard’s story.  Robert said that he and his mom went to rehab together at one point and he participated in Narcotics Anonymous.

Robert told Jessica More that he was celebrating his ten year anniversary of being sober from narcotics.  He went on to say that after he got sober and left, things went downhill with his mom quickly and she presumably passed away.  It was definitely a somber moment for the normally upbeat and lighthearted show.

On another note, Party Pete was supposed to be removed from the season after he was unceremoniously fired for posting something racist to his Instagram story, but he remains.  It isn’t clear if he was edited to look bad, or if he just made himself look bad anyway.  Either way, he is giving Malia some pushback – presumably because she is a woman.  Pete was creepy the entire episode and even made a comment about Bugsy being naked at one point.  Barf.

Bugsy and Alex Radcliffe spent some time in the hot tub together after talking a lot at dinner.  If you asked Bugsy what they were talking about, she would say her accessories.  If you asked Alex, he would say….nothing.  Because he doesn’t remember.  Either way, Bugsy should drop some accessories and pick up Alex.
