The relationship between Hannah Ferrier and Sandy Yawn seems to have taken a turn for the worse with the start of Below Deck Mediterranean’s fifth season.
Though Below Deck Mediterranean just started this week, the drama has caused rough seas already! Hannah Ferrier was in the news saying she was considering quitting Below Deck after season five as to not get “locked into yachting,” according to Entertainment Tonight. That was quickly followed by a Page Six article with a source claiming she was fired from the show and was using the “I quit” excuse to cover her firing.
Hannah told ET, “I definitely went into this season going like, I’m here to, like, give the guests the best experience they could have.” From the start, Hannah’s attitude was understandably “over it.” It seems she returned to the show to confirm her suspicions: she was over it. In the first few minutes of the new season, Captain Sandy Yawn is seen telling Hannah, “I could have fired you a long time ago.”
Hannah and Sandy have always been at odds, but is this season seems to be worse than usual. It isn’t clear yet how far Hannah makes it through the season, but it was rumored that there might have been another chief stew brought on to take her place at some point in the season.
In the history of the yachting show, crew members get let go for various reasons but generally do not get fired by Bravo. Even Ashton Pienaar, who was incredibly awful and tried to force Kate Chastain to kiss him multiple times on camera, did not get fired.
It seems we will just have to tune in weekly to find out exactly what happened, but the “I quit” excuse is usually followed by an “I got fired” confession about a year later or so.
Below Deck Mediterranean is on Bravo Monday nights at 9 PM ET!
