The finale of Below Deck came and went and I take solace in the fact that we finally get a reunion to discuss all of the issues from the season.

As this season of Below Deck comes to an end, a lot of questions about the cast remain.  The final episode ended with Chef Kevin Dobson delivering his phallic chocolate cake to the table.  He placed it carefully down in front of Captain Lee Rosbach who looked like he would rather be anywhere else than at the table with Kevin’s cake.

To top that off, the primary charter guest went to sleep a while ago and wasn’t there to receive her lovely cake.  Kate Chastain knew the primary guest had gone to sleep, but let Kevin deliver the cake anyway.  You can feel the joy radiating off of Kate as Kevin takes the cake back to the kitchen to cut it up.

And without much fanfare, I believe Ashton Pienaar celebrated his last moments on the franchise.  Except for the fact that Kevin thought kicking sand into Kate’s eye was a good call.  This, combined with literally everything else Ashton did this season, just goes to show that he was not cut out to be managing people in any way.  Ashton’s response was, “Don’t worry about that.”  Very helpful, bru.

If you’ve ever listened to the Watch What Crappens podcast with Ben Mandelker & Ronnie Karam, you’d be privy to the information that Ashton’s head highly resembles that of a lego man.  Once you see it, you can’t unsee it.

I think what we’ve learned throughout the season is that if you try to overthrow the queen from her rented Motoryacht, you will fail.  If anyone has the opportunity to return next season, it would be Kate.  It certainly wouldn’t be any of the men on this crew who just proved how replaceable they are.

The reunion is on next Monday night, be sure to tune in to see how the men mansplain away their poor choices.

The Below Deck reunion will air Monday, February 10, 2020.
