It is no secret that Southern Charm star Kathryn Dennis has been in a long custody battle with her ex, Thomas Ravenel.

Though Thomas Ravenel is no longer on Southern Charm, his hold remains over one of the current stars, his ex, Kathryn Dennis.  The two have been in a long-standing custody battle over their two children, Kensington Calhoun Ravenel (5), and Saint Julien Rembert Ravenel (3), for years.

Thomas has been hell-bent on getting full custody of their children, even though he is currently involved in a legal battle of his own, charged with assault and battery in the second degree on their former nanny.  I’m not going to bother repeating all of the slanderous accusations he’s hurled at the mother of his children, because it is disgusting, frankly.

In the past month, Kathryn’s mom, Allison, passed away after an extended battle with cancer.  The same day, Kathryn got into a car accident with the children in the car and hit the guard rail and multiple light poles.  Everyone was okay.

Kathryn was recently awarded temporary joint custody of the kids, while Thomas remains the primary legal guardian.  Thomas has been trying to strip Kathryn of her rights entirely.

Thomas is no stranger to the law

In 2004, Thomas ran for the U.S. Senate and obviously lost.  The Federal Election Commission fined him $19,500 for “improperly filing reports,” according to reports.  He’s been indicted on federal cocaine charges for “conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute less than 500 grams of cocaine.”  At the time, he was serving as treasurer in South Carolina and was suspended.

In 2016, it came to light that Debbie Holloway Perkins had met Thomas on a dating app, and she was allegedly assaulted by him on a date.  Debbie apparently signed some sort of non-disclosure agreement and they settled out of court, Debbie received $200,000 for her “troubles.”

Thomas filed paperwork for full-custody last month stating Kathryn failed a drug test.  Kathryn’s lawyers said the test was inaccurate, as she passed a hair test. It seems that did not hold up since she has been granted more custody.

Thomas was slammed in the news last week for posting a photo of their kids with his mother, just days after Kathryn lost her own mother.  For the sake of the children, I hope their legal battle comes to an end soon.

Southern Charm will be back Wednesday, August 21 at 9 PM ET on Bravo.
