Throughout Season 9 of The Real Housewives of Potomac, we watched the relationship between new housewife Stacey Rusch and Thomas Anthony 'TJ' Jones develop and grow. And yet, by the time the reunion rolled around, it seemed that she and TJ were over.
During the reunion, Stacey continued to call TJ her best friend, right up until Wendy Osefo revealed that TJ had told her husband Eddie that he was being paid to be on the show. Apparently, TJ said that the entire relationship was fake, that Stacey Rusch was paying him to date her, and that she still owed him money.
After this shocking allegation was made, the other women told Stacey that she needed to Facetime TJ and confront him right then and there. But she chose not to do it. And we have since learned that she apparently confronted him after the reunion. According to The Daily Dish, the RHOP newbie shared with Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live that she reached out to him about his comments to Eddie.
Stacey Rusch chose not to call TJ during the RHOP reunion but was that the right decision to make
Stacey Rusch said that TJ, "was very remorseful, he was very emotional, and it was a hard call to have." But of course, this is her saying this after the fact. We have to wonder if the women were right and if she should have confronted him at the reunion so that everyone could hear what he had to say.
On the one hand, I understand why Stacey might not have been willing to immediately confront TJ about his accusations on the reunion couch. Not only were the other women there egging her on, which could have caused issues, but I highly doubt they would have allowed Stacey and TJ to have a conversation without interjecting. On the other, if she had made the call, everyone could have heard exactly what TJ said when confronted by Stacey over these allegations.
As Wendy told Stacey, we now have this seed of doubt that has been planted, which has us wondering if there is some truth to what TJ said. During her appearance on WWHL, she even said, "I was looking for love and he was in love with being in front of the camera." We could totally see that being the case, but without TJ publicly stating that he lied, it is hard to completely believe what she is saying about her dating life.
Considering Stacey was in the midst of her divorce during Season 9, her dating life was always going to be a part of her storyline in some way. So the questions around her and TJ's relationship made a lot of sense. And now that this new "information" has been shared, it makes us look at some of the things that went down this season a bit differently.
Stacey Rusch does not need to pay a man to date her. She is a gorgeous woman, with a lot going for her. But at the same time, now that TJ has put that idea out there, it is bound to cause her issues moving forward. Will the women be all over her every time she brings a man around? Will they be doubting Stacey and what she says or does?
I understand why the women of Potomac wanted Stacey to confront TJ right then and there, after his comments to Eddie. Not only was it their way of trying to be there for her, but it also would have been concrete proof that TJ lied. Even if he continued to "lie," her confronting him directly would have shown us all that she was not going to let his words stand.
Now all we have is Stacey's word against TJ. And her saying what he apparently told her privately, versus the conversation that he had on camera with Eddie. Maybe it is me, but I think this is going to follow Stacey into Season 10, if she returns. I don't think the women are going to let this information slide completely into oblivion, even if it is not directly addressed.
Here's hoping Stacey Rusch is part of RHOP Season 10 so that we can see what comes next for her and what dating looks like moving forward.
