RHOP: Was Gizelle Bryant wrong for kicking her fellow housewives out of her GnA event?
The Real Housewives of Potomac is back for its ninth season, and things have already gotten dramatic with the women. At the end of the second episode, things took a turn when Gizelle Bryant kicked some of the women out of her joint GnA event hosted with Ashley Darby.
So what happened? During the premiere episode, we saw Gizelle and Ashley inviting the women to their upcoming fundraising event for their athletic brand, GnA. All of them seemed to confirm that they would attend.
However, the day before the GnA event, Karen Huger sent a text message out to all of the women inviting them to an award ceremony that was taking place on the exact same night and at the exact same time as the other event. She even offered to provide transportation between the two events.
As we saw this moment in the episode, we knew this was problematic. This is bad behavior. There is no denying that what Karen did was wrong. And, it turns out that some of the women decided to take advantage of the offer of transportation between the two events. They decided to split their time between both events, to support their fellow housewives. The problem is, that they didn’t take into account, not only Gizelle Bryant’s feelings but also the fact that they had already made a commitment.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, this decision not to follow through with their promise hurt Gizelle. And of course, it also made her angry. Considering this event was a fundraiser for brain tumors and brain cancer research, in honor of her late father, you can’t really blame her.
As the Daily Dish reports, neither Ashley nor Gizelle are backing down from their decision to kick the women out. In fact, they are defending it.
Maybe it’s me, but I don’t blame Gizelle for what she did. This event was something that she had planned and invited people to much earlier than the invitation from Karen. And these women chose not to follow through with their promise. And the fact that they don’t understand why they would be getting kicked out of an event when there’s only an hour left in a more than three-hour event, makes no sense.
They made their decision to support Karen, over Gizelle and Ashley. And for them to not understand why that might hurt someone, especially when the event is a fundraiser in honor of one of those friend’s late father, feels bizarre.
If these women were treated in the same way that Gizelle was, they would be so hurt and so angry. And you know they would have done the exact same thing. So for them to be surprised and hurt by the fact that they got kicked out of the event that they didn’t seem to think highly enough to honor the RSVP that they made, is in its own way an added insult.
We will have to wait until episode 3 to see more of the drama around the women getting kicked out of the event. And we will also have to wait to see what the fallout is. However, it would be nice if these women apologized for not showing up when they said they would. Because showing up late, especially to a fundraising event like this, is not really showing up at all.
What do you think about what happened in this episode? Do you think Gizelle was right for what she did? Did you understand why she kicked the women out? And do you blame her?
