RHOP’s Karen Huger in car crash that includes a DUI charge

When we think of the Real Housewives of Potomac’s Karen Huger, the first thing that comes to mind is “Grand Dame.” After all, that’s what she has called herself in the series. However, we would never think of potential mugshots and citations.

However, according to Reality Tea, it seems like we may need to change our way of thinking. Recently, Huger was in a car accident where she crashed her Maserati. While her car did not do well in the accident, the housewife herself walked away with only some bruises and bumps. It is also said that no one else was injured in this accident.

Obviously, it is very good news that no one was hurt badly in this accident, however, it seems as if there was a bit more to what happened than we originally knew. While Karen Huger did release a statement saying that the cause of the crash was due in part to her heightened emotions at the time, it seems there was a bit more to this accident than just driving emotionally. In her statement, she did say that she received citations related to the accident. What she did not mention was that one of those “citations was for driving under the influence.”

Karen Huger crashed her Maserati Tuesday evening and now we know more about the accident

According to a police report on the accident, Huger was said to be aggressively driving the Maserati at speeds faster than would be considered safe given the conditions of the road at the time. It is also said that before coming to a stop she hit a crosswalk sign and a median before hitting another parking sign that was off of the road.

The force of her car hitting the parking sign actually led to the deployment of the car’s airbags. And Karen Huger did make a statement about her accident, calling it a “frightening experience.” She also described the accident in her own words, saying “ I swerved to avoid the head-on collision, hit the divider, and then a tree.”

She did state that she received citations at the time of the accident, but did not go into details about those citations. However, hours after her statement was made, court documents that were apparently obtained by TMZ, showcased that she had been given a DUI, and she will have to appear in court for that DUI. The other citations that she received revolving around this crash included, “negligent and reckless driving, driving at high speed, and driving with a suspended registration.”

Clearly, Tuesday was not a good night for Karen Huger. However, we are happy to see that no one was injured badly in this accident and that the housewife herself was able to walk away from her vehicle. We can only hope things are okay with Karen, and that she is able to move past whatever happened that led to this particular accident.

We can only imagine what led to Huger making the decision to allegedly get in the car and drive under the influence. However, we hope that she is able to move past this and find a sense of peace. We love everything that the Grande Dame brings to the table, and we hope that this accident doesn’t hinder her ability to continue to be a larger-than-life presence on the Real Housewives of Potomac.
