Every fan of the Real Housewives franchise likely has a favorite season, a favorite cast member, or even a favorite storyline that they’ve seen unfold on the series. RHOBH began airing in 2010 as the sixth series in the Real Housewives franchise and has featured Kyle Richards among its main cast members since the very first season. Love her or loathe her, it’s safe to say that she’s been a focal point of some seriously dramatic moments throughout the show’s run and now, she’s revealing the major moment that nearly caused the entire cast to quit the show.

Kyle Richards recalls RHOBH Amsterdam trip

During season 5 of RHOBH, which aired in 2015, the housewives took a trip to Amsterdam and took all their baggage and drama with them. Even though Kyle Richards wasn’t directly involved in the explosive fight that happened in Amsterdam, her sister was at the center of it when one dinner turned dramatic after a fight broke out between Kim Richards and Lisa Rinna.

While Lisa was opening up and trying to have an emotional moment, Kim interrupted and accused Lisa of being unconcerned with her and simply inserting herself into Kim’s business and attempted to turn it around on Lisa by threatening to bring up her “home life” and spill some secrets about Lisa’s husband, Harry Hamlin. The emotional moment exploded as Lisa broke a wine glass and tried to lunge across the table at Kim.

It’s hard for fans of the series to forget about this explosive fight and apparently, it’s hard for the cast to forget about it too. When talking to Bustle, Kyle Richards cited the Amsterdam trip as one of the most memorable fights and revealed that the entire cast nearly quit over that dinner fight.

"It’s easier for me to think of a least favorite: Amsterdam. Just because of what happened, but it was a beautiful place to visit. It was just a disastrous trip. I think everybody quit that night. The producers were freaking out — we were like, “We’re all done now.”"

Despite how dramatic the Amsterdam trip was, she also stated that the trips are some of her favorite parts of filming RHOBH. “I like when we do the girls’ trips. I know that there’s always drama and there’s always something that inevitably happens,” she said when asked what she likes most about filming, “but I got married at 18 years old and I had a baby at 19 — I didn’t do girls’ trips, and I didn’t get to do a lot of normal things growing up as a child actor.”

Considering the number of fights that have broken out on the show, it’s hard to believe that one dinner disagreement could’ve spelled the end of the series. Whether the housewives were really going to send the camera crew packing or it was just jet lag and emotions running high, fans can rest easy knowing the series is going strong with Kyle Richards appearing as a main cast member, sister Kim Richards appearing as a guest, and Lisa Rinna absent after having announced her departure in early 2023.
