Although Taylor Swift is normally the one talking about her relationships through her catchy songs where she expresses everything from hope to heartbreak, it was Travis Kelce‘s turn to open up about the superstar singer in an interview with The Wall Street Journal in which he discusses everything from his favorite era to Taylor’s lyrics and how this relationship is totally different from his past ones.

A Swiftie at heart

Pictures of Taylor at her new boyfriend’s football games have been spreading like wildfire over the internet, but Taylor Swift isn’t the only fan in this relationship. In the interview, although Kelce admits that he isn’t as good with words as she is, he has been analyzing her lyrics to the point of even having a song — 1989‘s hit single “Blank Space” — that he was excited to hear her perform live because her lyrical talent is so impressive.

In the same way that Swifties have become enamored with the way that Taylor Swift is able to turn all the highs and lows of life and relationships into music, Kelce says that she’s “a genius” and states, “I’ve never been a man of words. Being around her, seeing how smart Taylor is, has been mind-blowing. I’m learning every day.”

Love in Taylor Swift’s spotlight

One of the things Kelce says he’s learning from his relationship with Taylor Swift? How to handle the newfound spotlight. Although the Kansas City Chiefs tight end was already used to having eyes on him, there’s no denying that those eyes have multiplied exponentially since he started getting spotted with Taylor Swift.

This must be a lot to deal with, but Kelce says that he’s learning quickly and determined not to let the experience mess up their relationship or make Taylor look bad by extension when she’s become such a PR master.

"Obviously I’ve never dated anyone with that kind of aura about them…. I’ve never dealt with it. But at the same time, I’m not running away from any of it…. The scrutiny she gets, how much she has a magnifying glass on her, every single day, paparazzi outside her house, outside every restaurant she goes to, after every flight she gets off, and she’s just living, enjoying life. When she acts like that I better not be the one acting all strange."

Considering how much Taylor Swift’s fans peer with their digital magnifying glasses into every corner of her life and analyze every move she makes, there’s no denying that it must put a lot of pressure on her relationships and the people she dates.

Luckily for the most diehard Swifties, it seems like Kelce is every bit as enamored with Taylor Swift as they are.
