Morgan Wallen has seemingly shut down “drunk” rumors
Country music star Morgan Wallen was all over headlines last week after cancelling an Oxford, Mississippi show just minutes before the show began. Understandably, fans were very upset.
Imagine if you had bought tickets, made plans, and possibly even taken off work to see a musician and he failed to appear. As a result, theories started to surface about Wallen’s absence.
The most prominent theory was one that Morgan Wallen was too drunk to perform. This theory began with a video of a security guard saying that him losing his voice was an excuse and, in reality, he had drank too much to the point where he couldn’t stand up straight.
Morgan Wallen seemingly just shut down these rumors
While it’s fun to take a rumor like that and run with it, the official word on Wallen was that he had lost his voice. That’s what Morgan Wallen said and that’s what any representative of him said.
This week, Wallen resumed his tour and gave this quote.
“What’s up, everybody? I just wanted to let you know that I am in Jacksonville. We are going to play a show tonight — and all weekend. I wouldn’t say I’m 100% but I’m doing a lot better. And to everyone in Oxford, I just want to reiterate how sorry I am for the way that went down.”
At the peak of the backlash, Wallen explained that he had spent the day trying to regain his voice, saying he had been “talking to [his] doctor and working through [his] vocal exercises.” Unfortunately, he would not be able to recover enough to play the show.
Wallen also made a statement on his Instagram story, explaining that he is on a “doctor-ordered vocal rest” and would have to reschedule the weeks remaining shows.
The more time that passes, the more likely it seems that the idea of Wallen being too drunk to perform was a rumor and only a rumor.
I believe him. Do you?
