Kanye West has been in the news for all of the wrong reasons recently. The 45-year-old rapper and his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, split earlier in the year and it seems like he’s been in an accelerating nosedive since then.

West’s most recent controversy involved an antisemitic tweet that called out Jewish people, leading to his ban from Twitter. Here’s what it said:

"“I’m a bit sleepy tonight but when I wake up I’m going death con 3     On JEWISH PEOPLE     The funny thing is I actually can’t be Anti Semitic because black people are actually Jew also      You guys have toyed with me and tried to black ball anyone whoever opposes your agenda”"

Following this, Kanye met up with Donald Trump and supposedly agreed to purchase Parler — the former president’s social media platform. At one point, Parler had 2.9 million daily users but has since slipped to just around 40,000. Twitter is over 200 million.

Kanye West’s purchase of Parler seems like it could be a repeat of Elon Musk’s purchase of Twitter

There’s really not much to work with here, as the Kanye West situation is recent news. As things stand, this transaction is merely a proposal. Still, the app itself has announced (ironically, in a tweet) that they’re in talks with West, so it must be serious to an extent.

But is this just another celebrity making a bold claim before he backs down?

We saw this recently with Elon Musk, who claimed that he was going to purchase Twitter. Spoiler — he didn’t. Instead, he now finds himself being sued by the corporation and under federal investigation.

Without a doubt, West has the money to complete the transaction but the timing seems off. I mean, a week after being booted off of Twitter, he’s buying a separate social media platform. Is he truly willing to maintain a company like that?

You never know.
