Kanye West is one of the greatest musicians of all time. He has sold over 160 million records and won 24 Grammy Awards. This is tied with Jay Z for the most all-time by a rapper. But lately, he hasn’t been in the news for his music.

In fact, it seems like Kanye has made the transition from full-time musician to full-time celebrity, often making headlines for personal reasons. Don’t get me wrong, he’s still working as hard as ever — that’s just not what’s showing up in headlines.

Recent examples of this include his well-covered divorce from Kim Kardashian which eventually led to an internet feud with her new boyfriend, Pete Davidson. Last week, West wore a “White Lives Matter” shirt and upset virtually everybody in the world.

Kanye West’s Twitter account got locked this week — here’s the tweet that did it

This week, Kanye’s name is back in headlines and you guessed it — it’s not for his music. This time around, the 45-year-old rapper released one of the more cryptic tweets of his life. Seriously… this one is really bad. Here’s what it said.

"I’m a bit sleepy tonight but when I wake up I’m going death con 3     On JEWISH PEOPLE     The funny thing is I actually can’t be Anti Semitic because black people are actually Jew also      You guys have toyed with me and tried to black ball anyone whoever opposes your agenda"

Yeah. Tough scene out here.

While this is obviously a very offensive and very antisemitic tweet, the fact that it makes absolutely no sense at all kind of cushions the blow. It’s like when you hear a homeless person yelling something on the side of the road — it’s really difficult to take seriously in any way.

As expected, he was immediately canceled. The American Jewish Committee labeled this as a “vicious antisemitic comment.” Somehow, it’s not even the first strange comment that Kanye has made about Jewish people in the past week.

On Friday, the rapper shared a text conversation between himself and Sean Combs (P. Diddy), stating “Ima use you as an example to show the Jewish people that told you to call me that no one can threaten or influence me.”

It’s impossible to say what is going on in West’s head but one thing is clear — he has some serious mental health issues to address.

Or maybe he has an album coming out.

That’s right. If you haven’t already noticed the trend, West tends to behave erratically before the release of a new album. There’s actually a very well-documented correlation.
