Rebel Wilson throws shade at Leonardo DiCaprio and Camila Morrone’s age gap
By Diana Nosa
Conversation about Leonardo DiCaprio and Camila Morrone’s age gap may have died down in Hollywood but for Rebel Wilson, the gossip was the perfect ammo to use for this year’s BAFTA Awards.
The Australian comedian had the fortune of being the host for the event this year which meant anyone famous was susceptible to being made fun of. Though several guests were thrown a jab or two — Will Smith and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson to name a few — it was the absent Leonardo DiCaprio got one of the most savage jokes pointed at him.
Rebel Wilson’s joke about Leonardo DiCaprio and Camila Morrone’s age gap
As she gave random audience members gold-colored bras as awards for random categories, Rebel Wilson came across 20-year-old actress Emilia Jones.
“I’ll give you the award for the person in the crowd Leonardo DiCaprio would find most attractive,” Rebel Wilson said to the Locke & Key actress. “He does like them young.”
Of course, Rebel was just making a joke and we don’t think Leonardo or Camila would have taken it too seriously. In fact, Leonardo may have already prepared himself for more of those kinds of jokes in the future, because at a previous award ceremony, the esteemed actor’s relationship status was also used as a punch line.
According to The Independent, Life After Death actor Ricky Gervais poked fun at Leonardo DiCaprio when he hosted the Golden Globes back in 2020. Safe to say Ricky made Rebel’s joke seem like a huge compliment.
“[Once Upon a Time in Hollywood]’s almost three hours long – it’s an epic,” Gervais stated. “Leonardo DiCaprio attended the premiere and by the end his date was too old for him.”
At the time, Leonardo, who was 45, was coming up on the three-year mark in his relationship with Camila Morrone, who was 22. The relationship, while shocking, became a thing that most of Hollywood got used to very soon, so much so, they enjoyed making light-hearted sentiments about the age gap now and then. Hence why we’re assuming there’s no bad blood between any of the celebrities for bringing it up.
Even though Camila Morrone doesn’t typically find discussion of their 23-year age gap amusing, we’re hoping she took kindly to Rebel Wilson’s BAFTAs joke. After all, it’s seemingly nothing but love.
