Camila Morrone and her longtime boyfriend Leonardo DiCaprio are still going strong, leading many people to wonder just what the celebrity couple’s secret is to everlasting love.

Though both are fairly private with their private life, Camila has dropped a few gems about maintaining her relationship with the Academy Award-winning actor despite being more than 20 years younger than him. The actress made it a point to state how the key to the long-term relationship was to not care about outside voices, especially the ones trying to dictate who should date who.

Still holding this sound advice, Camila and Leonardo are now heading towards the endgame, but how long did it take this couple to get to this major relationship milestone? Everything to know here.

Camila Morrone and Leonardo DiCaprio dating timeline

It all started on that fateful day back in December 2017 when Leonardo DiCaprio, who was 43 at the time, met Camila Morrone, who was 19, in Cannes.

According to Cosmopolitan, the two strangers became well acquainted quickly, hitting it off so well that, shortly after their first meeting, they began dating and even welcomed the 2018 New Year together.

The two continued to go strong for the remainder of 2018, with Leonardo reportedly feeling that he was “very in love” with Camila and often dreamt about having kids with her in the future.

To many, however, his actions didn’t seem to match up, as during the 2019 Cannes Festival, the actor was not seen walking side-by-side his girlfriend on the red carpet and also didn’t publicly talk about their romance. But, clearly, this is something that doesn’t bug the actress at all because, several months later, she spoke out in defense of her relationship and herself.

“I feel like there should always be an identity besides who you’re dating,” Camila told the Los Angeles Times. “I understand the association, but I’m confident that will continue to slip away and be less of a conversation.”

The public scrutiny surrounding Leonardo and Camila did, in fact, die down after she came forward. Some of the negative opinions were eventually laid to rest when the two, for the first time ever, sat together at the 2020 Academy Awards ceremony.

Sitting with one another was only one big moment, as months later in December 2020, it was reported the two moved in together. The couple continued to flourish in their domestic life in 2021, leading sources to report that they strongly believe the celebrities are going to be engaged in the near future.

Now, in 2022, Leonardo DiCaprio has yet to get down on one knee, however, with him and Camila Morrone still being an item to this very day, a ring may be already in Leonardo’s back pocket.
