Britney Spears kicked off Instagram? Fans shocked to see her page deactivated

It’s been an eventful few days for Britney Spears what with her recent engagement to longtime boyfriend Sam Asghari and reports surfacing that her father James Spears had filed a petition to end her conservatorship.

There has been a lot to celebrate for the beloved Princess of Pop, who most recently took to Instagram to gush about her engagement and show off her dazzling ring. This is perhaps why fans are in a state of shock and disbelief this afternoon upon discovering her official Instagram account has suddenly been deactivated.

As eagle-eyed fans were quick to notice, Spears’ official account is no longer viewable on Instagram. Instead, fans visiting her account are taken to a broken page that notifies them the page does not exist — or in some instances, a page that shows the users as having no current posts.

What happened to Britney Spears’s Instagram account?

While it was initially unclear what has happened to Britney Spears’s Instagram account, new reports suggest the decision to close the account was a personal decision made by Spears in an effort to take a break from social media.

As reported by Page Six, Spears chose to close her Instagram account “in light of the successful path that she’s been on and continues to be on [following] the news of [her engagement].”

Needless to say, the removal of her account has taken fans by surprise with many taking to social media to voice their concerns over its apparent deactivation.

“I just can’t believe Britney Spears deleted her Instagram account so abruptly! I truly hope she’s doing okay right now,” wrote one concerned fan. “I hope this was her choice but her last post was directly about the conservatorship so I’m scared right now, we love you mama [Britney Spears].
Whatever you do I hope you’re happy,” echoed another fan. 

Given this decision is said to have been made by Spears, it seems safe to assume she’ll return to Instagram when she feels the timing is right.

The good news is that sources report Spears is “happy and in a great place” which is honestly all fans really want to see.
