Erika Jayne has been in the news a lot lately and the paparazzi are following her every move! Whether that’s because she is calling them herself or they just happen upon her casual daily activities is still to be determined. Earlier this week, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star was spotted casually driving through Kentucky Fried Chicken in her casual, everyday BMW, wearing no makeup because she’s just like us! But that’s definitely not what’s going on here.
Attorney Ronald Richards was on The Reality Reading Rainbow podcast again this week to discuss the Tom Girardi situation. There was a lot of good information in the episode, so take a listen if you have a chance, but one of Richards’ comments really made us think!
Host Les Kurkendaal-Barrett asked about the Kentucky Fried Chicken photos specifically and if there was something more going on. “It looked so staged!” He further questions if that was something a star could do to try and make it look like they are just being “normal,” or in this case, “broke.” Since Erika and Tom’s assets are frozen, it makes sense she’s trying to push the “broke” narrative to elicit sympathy.
Richards responded that the photoshoot was nothing but a “theatrical performance to try and pretend that she is cutting back on her expenses,” he commented. Richards continued to say, “or to create a conversation piece because she’s never eaten at Kentucky Fried Chicken.” And to be fair, that’s exactly what she did! Everyone was talking about Erika rolling through the KFC drive-thru line.
Erika Jayne eating KFC made waves this week, but isn’t that what the RHOBH star wanted?
The photos were taken by the company Backgrid, which is famous for doing set-up photoshoots with celebrities like RHOC’s Braunwyn Windham-Burke or anyone else who want good paparazzi photos taken at any given time. That makes it all the more likely that Erika called the photographer herself to arrange this “Stars — They’re Just Like Us” moment.
The moral of the story is that the PR machine is working overtime to try and keep Erika not only in the news but in the news in a positive manner. Next time though, could she pick a better chicken place? Maybe the assigned paparazzi has a more suitable but still budget-friendly suggestion.
