NeNe Leakes is done with The Real Housewives of Atlanta but thinks their treatment of Black women was unfair, calls for a boycott of the network.

NeNe Leakes has been away from The Real Housewives of Atlanta for a few months now, but she hasn’t moved on.  After the Real Housewives of Potomac reunion, NeNe claims a fan created a petition to boycott Bravo over their treatment of Black women on the network.  More specifically, NeNe and Mariah Huq from Married to Medicine.  NeNe Tweeted the petition and decided to go live on Instagram with attorney Ben Crump to discuss it.

The petition, titled Boycott Bravo TV/NBC UNIVERSAL, has almost 10,000 signatures at the time of publication.  NeNe says that Black women created shows, genres, franchises, and helped build the Bravo network, but are now being demoted.  Unfortunately for NeNe, it seems she’s only doing this because the network no longer benefits her.  She wasn’t boycotting Bravo while employed with them, was she?

We all know that Bravo exploits women for entertainment value, that’s basically what the entire channel is founded on.  Give them martinis and trap them in a luxury hotel to see what happens next!

During the conversation with Crump on Instagram, NeNe explained further what she hoped the petition would do.  “I think it’s a way for us to be able to take a seat at the table and have a conversation with Bravo.” NeNe continued, “All of the things I’ve done for Bravo to elevate them, I think it is unfair to demote me and elevate my white counterparts.”  The petition says that Bravo should be held accountable for their biased treatment of “their African American talent, more specifically NeNe Leakes and Mariah Huq.”

Unfortunately, NeNe has a history of treating people poorly, much like she is accusing Bravo of doing.  She called Kenya Moore’s unborn child a buffalo, and called Claudia Jordan, a bi-racial co-star from the early RHOA days, a “half breed.”  She also attacked a crew member for going into her closet and got off without any punishment.

It is unfortunate because a conversation like this has merit, but NeNe is not the right person to be leading it.  We all know that NeNe loves to burn bridges when she’s upset, and she’s obviously upset.  Get a match, Andy Cohen, because NeNe is about to burn this bridge down!

The Real Housewives of Atlanta is on Bravo on Sundays.
