Vanderpump Rules stars, Tom Sandoval and Ariana Madix, are being sued over their popular cocktail book, Fancy AF Cocktails.

While Vanderpump Rules hasn’t picked up filming yet, Tom Sandoval and Ariana Madix are being sued over their popular book, Fancy AF Cocktails: Drink Recipes from a Couple of Professional Drinkers.  According to Us Weekly, the two are being accused of breach of contract by Alison Baker.  Baker claims that she met Sandoval and Madix back in 2016 and started to work on the book together.

Later that same year, Baker says she entered into an agreement with Madix (not Sandoval) for $3,000 initially, and 45% of the advance given by the publisher.  Once they found a publisher to publish the book, she would be entitled to another 45% of whatever was actually made on sales “in perpetuity” and would receive co-writer credit.  She says that eventually, Sandoval “forced himself” into the agreement and changed things on her.  Baker says that Sandoval suggested that he and Madix write a book on their own.

The author says that once Sandoval entered the picture, they eventually decided to split things into thirds from there on out.  The documents obtained by Us Weekly note that Sandoval and Madix returned the revised agreement saying they were not prepared to contribue as much work as Baker was requesting.

As a result, they did not move forward on publishing with Baker, but obviously moved forward with the concept.  Baker claims that Fancy Af “incorporates many of the proprietary rights” of the initial concept created by her which would be a breach of the contract.  She also says the pair were “willful, malicious, and fraudulent” in their book publishing, and she’s asking to be paid accordingly.

The book was eventually written by Sandoval, Madix, and Danny Pellegrino, who runs a popular podcast called Everything Iconic.  Neither of them have commented on the issue yet as it is an ongoing case, but we hope everyone comes to a satisfactory resolution.  For what it’s worth, the book is hilarious and worth the buy!

Vanderpump Rules is on Bravo….for reruns.
