The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City seems to have the authenticity down that other franchises, such as RHOBH and RHOC, are severely lacking.

The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City has something that some of the other franchises are lacking.  While the group scenes are fun and entertaining to watch, the personal, individual scenes are just as engaging to watch.  The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is severely lacking that, and even The Real Housewives of Orange County is lacking this to some extent, as well.

Meredith & Seth

Meredith Marks and her husband, Seth Marks, are separating and working through things on-camera, which has to be hard.  Of course, using your separation for a storyline is hard, but it’s real.  A lot of viewers have been in a position similar to Meredith and will probably relate to that.  When Seth got into the car, he started nagging her immediately that they needed to move to Ohio for his company.  Meredith’s company is in Salt Lake City, so his argument didn’t really make sense.

Whitney & her dad

Whitney Rose and her father are dealing with the effects of addiction, and that is extremely hard to deal with on camera.  Her father was willing to discuss his addiction and how he left a sober living facility previous is also something that many families watching have probably dealt with.  That’s not easy to share in person, let alone on television.

Heather & her children

Heather Gay is dealing with the repercussions of leaving a marriage in a very religious city and she is worried that her children might suffer because of it.  It seems that in the Mormon religion when you get married, you agree to be married even after you die.  By divorcing and breaking up the family, Heather undoubtedly received a lot of backlash in her community.  It seems she has been doing her best to keep their lifestyle the same, and her children seem happy and well adjusted.

This is what RHOBH & RHOC are missing

These are some of the authentic struggles that the other shows are missing.  Braunwyn Windham-Burke is arguably going through something while getting sober on the show, but many fans are finding it inauthentic.  It isn’t up to me to decide if you find her story authentic or not, but the comments are out there.  RHOBH will spend four episodes packing for a luxury trip, going on the trip, and fighting on the trip.  Sure, the lifestyle porn can be fun, but can also be incredibly boring.

On the other hand, Mary Cosby marrying her step-grandfather is just out there and not relatable at all.  When she said she chose faith over love so she married her grandfather, I just can not relate.  Marrying a grandparent is pretty out there, no matter how you cut it.  Mary is the outlier here.

The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City is on Bravo every Wednesday at 10 PM.
