While the future of Vanderpump Rules remains uncertain, Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright announced they are leaving the show.

Jax Taylor posted on Instagram that he and Brittany Cartwright will not be returning for another season of Vanderpump Rules.  Jax said that his time on the show was rewarding, challenging, and fulfilling, but they want to focus on their family and “new endeavors.”  He went on to thank Bravo and the production company responsible for the show but didn’t mention Lisa Vanderpump at all.

Jax is the first person to announce they were done with Vanderpump Rules instead of being publicly fired like Stassi Schroeder and Kristen Doute, but people don’t normally voluntarily leave successful shows.  It sounds like they weren’t asked back for season 9 if there even is a season 9.  It isn’t clear yet if the show is even returning, seeing as restaurants only recently opened again for dine-in, and just closed again except for takeout.

Brittany shared an identical post on her Instagram but changed the words “Brittany” to “Jax.”  Something tells me these two didn’t actually consider leaving the show, but the decision was made for them.  Jax is a serial bartender and has no other marketable skills besides being angry on a television show and liking corn, not that those are actually skills.

No other non-fired castmates have spoken out, but we imagine if the show is coming to an end we will be hearing something soon.  Vanderpump Rules without Jax does sound better, though.  The remaining cast is only Katie Maloney-Schwartz, Tom Schwartz, Scheana Shay, Ariana Madix, and Tom Sandoval for the most part.  Faith Stowers recently announced she was getting a new reality show of her own, too.

On Kristen’s Instagram stories today, she said she hoped to be back on television sometime soon with the cast we “know and love,” and then winked at the camera.  Is it possible the group is trying to sell the concept of the show to another network?

Lisa has not commented on the show publicly recently, but she can’t be doing all that well without her restaurants functioning at normal capacity.
