Southern Charm season 7 began last night after more than a year off the air, and it might have been better to just let this show go.
Southern Charm is back, y’all, and that means Kathryn Dennis, Austen Kroll, Craig Conover, Shep Rose, and Madison LeCroy are all back, with new cast members Leva Bonaparte, and John Pringle joining them. Disgraced former television star and moderately famous politician, Thomas Ravenel, showed up on screen with Kathryn within the first five minutes.
The show allegedly took a long break due to lackluster footage and storylines, which makes me wonder how this season is going to look base don the first episode. Lackluster doesn’t cut it. It was rumored that Kathryn started the rumors that Cameran Eubanks’ husband, Jason, was having an affair.
This was confirmed when Kathryn said to Craig, “Did you hear Jason is having an affair?” Cameran, Naomie Olindo, and Chelsea Meissner all decided to leave the show after this incident. Cameran text Kathryn while they were filming and asked why she would bring up the rumor on camera, so it seems this is going to be a big storyline, Cameran or not. It might have been easier to continue filming in order to squash the rumors since it is probably going to get a lot of screen time either way.
They showed the video of Madison cheating on Austen 37 minutes in, which is pretty long considering it is usually in the first few minutes. Madison and Austen are back together, but from the previews, not for long. Shep has a new girlfriend, Taylor, and that is bound to end poorly.
It appears we are in for a lackluster season with the Southern Charm cast. While Bravo has been very performative with their selective firings of people like LeeAnne Locken, Stassi Schroeder, and Kristen Doute for their racist words, this entire franchise could have been cut if they were truly serious about making a difference.
Southern Charm is on every Thursday at 9 PM ET.
