Karen Huger is dealing with some drama in her marriage on this season of The Real Housewives of Potomac, but will things with Ray improve soon?
Though there is still a ton of drama on The Real Housewives of Potomac with Monique Samuels and Candiace Dillard Bassett, this week was Karen Huger and Ray Huger’s time to shine. We know that Karen and Ray have been going through a lot in the last few years, but Ray really does seem checked out from their relationship.
Karen and Ray have been married for 23 years and Ray claims he is working on his “third retirement.” He noted that he doesn’t like being known as Karen Huger’s husband and that it has thrown off the balance in their relationship. These days, Karen is busy with the show and promoting her perfume, La’Dame Fragrance. But when she isn’t busy with that, Karen doesn’t wait around for Ray to tell her what to do anymore either.
While Karen is enjoying her newfound freedom, Ray clearly does not feel the same way. Even though it was okay for Karen to bail him out financially when he needed saving from the IRS, he seems to resent that more than appreciate it. He noted while they were in therapy that he liked it when Karen was a housewife and basically waited around for him to dictate her life.
In a similar situation, a lot of people in Karen’s position would have just walked away. Instead, she stood by Ray and bailed him out of quite a sticky situation. According to The Washington Post, Ray owed “$1.5 million in back-due federal taxes and his company owes more than $3 million, according to public records.” That’s not an easy hole to crawl out of, even if you do have the help of someone like Karen. Hopefully, this is just part of the process for Mr. Huger.
So far, it really isn’t clear what is in the cards for Karen and Ray in the future. Is this the beginning of the end? Is this just a lull in a long term relationship? No matter the case, Ray should be more grateful that he had someone as strong as Karen by his side for so long.
The Real Housewives of Potomac will be back next Sunday at 9 PM.
