The Real Housewives of Potomac are trying to get past the fight and all of the drama, but the ladies are not happy with how Monique Samuels acted.
The Real Housewives of Potomac are still dealing with the fallout between Candiace Dillard Bassett and Monique Samuels, this time with a group meeting at Karen Huger’s house. The best part of the whole thing was when Gizelle Bryant was extra enough to bring security to the meeting, while Ashley Darby was comfortable enough to bring baby Dean.
None of the women were happy with what happened, but Dr. Wendy Osefo was the first one to speak up about what their actions did for other Black women. “The moment you put your hands on somebody and you perpetuate the narrative that Black women continue to be angry and violent, that’s the problem.” Gizelle noted that they had been holding themselves to a higher standard because they were on television and the fight took all of that away in seconds.
Ashley tried to defend Monique to say she wasn’t a bad mom or person for attacking Candiace, but the other ladies disagreed. Monique was running around saying she was going to kill Candiace, and apparently leaked some of the details of the fight to the blogs afterwords.
Monique showed up to the meeting to explain her side of things and said she was embarrassed and ashamed of her actions. She stood by her story that she didn’t really remember the fight and blacked out, but they showed footage of Monique replaying the incident in the car on the way home. “You almost had me, but that was absolutely 100% a lie,” Robyn Dixon said.
Robyn noted that Candiace was drinking white wine but the wine that was thrown in Monique’s face was red. She said this was due to the altercation, not because Candiace threw it at her. Robyn also noted that the verbiage in the blogs was very anti-Candiace and that Monique likely leaked the story.
Ashley said she could forgive Monique because she felt it was a one-time situation. On the other hand, Gizelle brought some receipts from seasons past where Monique threatened to get violent with the ladies on multiple occasions – including when she was pregnant last year.
Candiace spoke to her therapist about all of the hate she was receiving from strangers on the internet that heard about the fight through the blogs. When asked what it would take to forgive her, Candiace said she just needed time. The situation was complicated and remains complicated as the ladies try and reconcile, but it doesn’t look good for Monique at this time.
The Real Housewives of Potomac will be back next Sunday at 9 PM.
