Real Housewives of Potomac: How can you not feel bad for Ashley Darby?

Ashley Darby’s storyline this season on The Real Housewives of Potomac is shaping up to be mostly about Michael Darby…again.

Ashley Darby can pretend she’s happy all she wants on The Real Housewives of Potomac, but it’s hard not to feel bad for her still.  Her tagline this season is, “Now that I got my baby, that’s the only crap I take.”  It is as if Ashley knows that she only stuck around with Michael Darby for the baby.  Now that she has Dean…what’s next?

Even though Michael’s alleged assault on a cameraman last season was technically dropped, it hasn’t been forgotten.  But now his antics are back, front and center, for Ashley’s storyline.  While Ashley was packing for Monique Samuel’s lakehouse, Michael was insistent that he wasn’t going to be alone with the baby.

“You are taking the baby right?  Because you should be taking the baby.”  Cute.  So while he makes Ashley take baby Dean on vacation, Michel is out creeping in the club.  Also, insinuating Ashley would be a bad mom to leave her child with his father is just incredibly stupid.  Ashley would be stupid to leave Dean with Michael because Michael is obviously more interested in strip clubs than he is childcare.

Unfortunately, most viewers find Michael sleazy, but Michael is not Ashley.  Ashley was probably only brought back because her issues with Michael brought good ratings, but she can’t really be held accountable for her husband being a creep.

Ashley tends to bring the drama but also seems to show up on time and not be a nightmare for production, which is usually the preferred behavior for a housewife.  She’s always ready to start something for the cameras.

The drama between Ashley and Wendy Osefo really took off when someone commented that she brought Dean.  Wendy has a newborn of the same age and managed to leave the baby at home.  But perhaps Wendy has a trustworthy and helpful husband than Ashley does.

While Michael insisted Ashley take the baby, he was out in the club hanging out with strippers.  So while you may be annoyed with Ashley, it’s hard not to feel bad for her.  She’s trapped being a trophy wife to Skeletor and raising a baby alone while her husband is barely putting effort into hiding the fact that he hates her.  What’s not to feel bad about?
