Gizelle Bryant says The Real Housewives of Potomac share a lot more than other franchises, namely The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
Gizelle Bryant spoke out about The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills drama on Lala Kent’s podcast, Give Them Lala … with Randall. The Real Housewives of Potomac star said that there were definitely times during filming where she didn’t want to discuss certain aspects of her life, but that’s what she signed up for.
Gizelle said that even though the RHOBH women are “dripping in diamonds and pearls,” the ladies argue over nothing. Their entire season revolves around one topic and there is no drama besides that. On the other hand, the RHOP ladies definitely bring more to the table. On top of that, they aren’t afraid to share their lives. Except for Karen Huger maybe.
On that note, when Karen and Ray Huger were having tax issues, Gizelle said they couldn’t ignore it. She noted that the Washington Post was writing about it, and there was just no way around the conversation. But if this were the Beverly Hills franchise, that would certainly be covered up and ignored.
One of the most dramatic scenes during last year’s filming involved Dorit Kemsley being approached at a hotel by someone who is not on the show. This person filmed the whole altercation and accused PK Kemsley of owing her friend a lot of money. That was filmed, cameras were around, everyone saw it happen on Twitter – but it didn’t make it on the show.
Even though Dorit’s financial issues were a topic brought up by Camille Grammer, none of the other women wanted to bring it up on camera. If that’s a part of her life, why not discuss it? Kyle Richards said something along the lines of the ladies decided off-camera that they would not bring it up. How boring is that?
Gizelle and Lala mentioned Lucy Lucy Apple Juice, the dog who stole the entire 9th season of the show. Gizelle said, “We couldn’t get away with that if our life depended on it.” The other franchises are held to a different standard, a standard where they are held to sharing details that the Beverly Hills ladies would be allowed to hide.
Which brings us back to the biggest issue with fans: nothing happens. They hide so much of their lives but insist that Denise Richards has to share what goes on in her bedroom. Why doesn’t Kyle discuss the ever-present rumors about Mauricio Umansky?
While Lala hides plenty for the cameras, too, we definitely get where they are coming from. The response to The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season has been lackluster at best, and its because they hide so much from viewers. The time has come for a little bit of a shakeup, hopefully in the means of a new production company to take the show a different direction.
The Real Housewives of Potomac will be back next Sunday at 9 PM.
