RHOBH: Why are so many important scenes deleted from the episode?
By Amanda Cline
The production company for RHOBH, Evolution Media, is taking too many liberties this season and the whole thing feels overproduced.
If you’ve been keeping up with The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills this season, you might know that they have been showing “deleted scenes” in the RHOBH episode replay before the new episode each week. In these deleted scenes, there has been a ton of important information that really would have been beneficial to see the first time around.
Last week, there was a scene with Garcelle Beauvais explaining that her son, Oliver, has struggled with addiction before. This was obviously during the scene with Lisa Rinna where she inquired if she thought the dancing videos could potentially have a negative impact on her daughters.
Garcelle was crying as she explained that she wasn’t shaming or coming for Rinna in any way. Her experience was that she might have missed some signs with her child that could have been foreshadowing problems in the future.
Why in the world was this scene cut? Because it didn’t work with their narrative this season. Garcelle has aligned herself with Denise Richards and therefore that’s where she must stay. Rinna’s response wasn’t even angry, but when they went to re-shoot that scene where Amelia Gray Hamlin’s hat kept changing, they obviously chose a different route.
Rinna knew how the conversation actually went down and instead of “owning it,” she basically harassed Garcelle via Instagram stories and tried to gain sympathy from viewers. In addition to that, she basically used her daughter’s history with eating disorders to get attention for herself. Yuck.
On the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills After Show, Garcelle and Denise aren’t even featured. It’s just more of an echo chamber for Kyle Richards and her cronies to defend their actions. Why not Garcelle? Doesn’t her opinion count?
Another scene with Denise explaining her text messages with Brandi Glanville was also deleted because they wanted to save that for Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave’s baby shower. They wanted to bring Brandi in to further their “Denise bad” storyline. It’s getting a bit tired, don’t you think?
How much more does production want to manipulate viewers to believe a story that just truly doesn’t matter? Evolution Media produces RHOBH and RHOC, which others argue has been going downhill in recent seasons as well. They also produce Vanderpump Rules, and I don’t think we need to say how truly awful season 8 was.
A lot of loyal viewers have bowed out of some of these insanely popular shows in the last season, noting it just seems too producer-driven. On top of all the continuity issues, this season is an unbelievable mess.
If they didn’t want Denise and Garcelle to have a voice, they should have just let them go. Who would stick around for this kind of treatment, before and after the fact? If Denise did quit months ago and has been letting all of this drama roll off her back the entire time, she deserves an Emmy Award.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is on Bravo on Wednesdays at 9 PM ET.
