RHOBH: The cast trip to Rome felt fragmented, much like the group
By Amanda Cline
While the cast of RHOBH headed to Rome for a glitzy adventure, the adventuring fell short and the group didn’t seem cohesive.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast trips are usually something to marvel at. The glitz, the glamour, and all of the moments that come along with a luxury trip. This RHOBH trip to Rome should have had it all! It did have plenty of ridiculous glamour because of the glam squads, but something about it just seemed off. Lisa Rinna was the one planning the trip and it seemed to fall short.
The group definitely feels fragmented, to say the least. It is clear that Denise Richards isn’t interested in being around Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave (is anyone though?). Garcelle Beauvais seems find with being around the other ladies, but she also seems more comfortable around Denise. Kyle Richards wants to be around anyone who will shower her with praise, aka Teddi. Teddi also focused on dressing like the Grim Reaper.
The girls didn’t do much together as a whole group. They sort of stayed in their smaller groups and did their own thing, which wasn’t very exciting. At the dinners, all hell broke loose. Denise had prepared speeches, Rinna had a bad attitude, and Teddi only parroted everything Kyle did. Dorit Kemsley and Kyle spent time together riding on Vespas.
During the day, the ladies split off into their more comfortable friend groups, and at night, they spent their time ganging up on Denise. It was sort of lackluster all around, and it didn’t seem that Rinna put much effort into planning the trip. They could have gone to Cleveland and had more adventures.
It would have been interesting to see more of the arguing between Garcelle and Rinna, since they just sort of glossed over that whole thing. Especially now, since Rinna is receiving so much negative press for her dancing videos and her mocking eating disorders.
Perhaps production had a harder time getting permitting than usual because they seemed to stick to super touristy activities, but even so, they were in Rome! They had so many opportunities to do exciting once-in-a-lifetime things, but they didn’t. The Ferrari’s were a nice addition, but even then, they only drove in them for a few minutes.
Was something missing from the season overall? Perhaps real friendships and connections were lacking during season ten. With ratings still high, it begs the question, “What’s next for RHOBH?”
Where will this group go from here? I can assure you that no one wants to watch Kyle and Teddi talk about how much they love one another, but that seems to be the trajectory we are on.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is on Bravo on Wednesdays at 9 PM ET.
