RHONJ: Check out Teresa Giudice’s newly “redone home”
By Amanda Cline
Teresa Giudice, The Real Housewives of New Jersey star, has started updating the giant home she once shared with Joe Giudice.
The Real Housewives of New Jersey have a penchant for all things over the top: big hair, shiny metallic decorations, and animal print everything. Teresa Giudice and her home is no exception. Back in the first season of RHONJ, Teresa was seen spending $120,360 in cash for some extraordinarily ugly gold, brown, and Mediterranea-style furniture. “I hear the economy is crashin’, so that’s why I pay cash,” she said back in season 1.
But those days are long gone, and so is the furniture! Earlier this month, Teresa had Jimmy DeLaurentis give the home a much-needed update and some fresh decor. In an exclusive interview, E! has photos of the “re-done” home, and it looks great. Ideally, Teresa didn’t pay cash for the furniture this time, either.
Jimm told E! that Teresa said, “My house needs a lot of work, it’s dark, it’s filled with old Italian stuff, Joe is gone.” Now that she and Joe Giudice have separated, it was time to bring some light into the house.
The house is massive, more than 4,000 square feet, which meant it needed furniture to fill it properly. Jimmy said they needed huge couches to fill the rooms, along with big ottomans in order to seat all of the guests that will surely fill the home. The couches in the foyer were custom built as they needed to be around 10 feet long, much larger than the usual 7 or 8 feet.
They painted the walls a lighter shade and got rid of a lot of the darker, heavier pieces that made the rooms feel drab and old. Teresa said that there were so many memories attached to the pieces that they just had to go.
Jimmy and Teresa didn’t finish the makeover yet, but they are going to tackle her bedroom next to give it an updated look. Melissa and Joe Gorga have no doubt sent her a little letter congratulating her on her, yet again, re-done home.
The Real Housewives of New Jersey will be back later this year.
