RHONY: Ramona Singer should not have shared about the Bipolar disorder
By Amanda Cline
The Real Housewives of New York City are getting ready to head to Mexico, where Ramona Singer and Leah McSweeney will have to get along.
The Real Housewives of New York City is still recovering from Ramona Singer’s wild livingroom birthday party. We found out this week that Ramona even asked all of the attendees for $100 so she could get a vintage Gucci bag. Atrocious. Beyond that, Ramona was still riding high when she was venting to Luann de Lesseps about Leah McSweeney.
Ramona was obviously mad Leah was dancing a little too risque with a chicken wing in her hand at the party, even though a lot of Ramona’s best friends were participating in the dancing. After Leah spoke out about Ramona’s behavior, things went downhill further.
Ramona spoke to Sonja Morgan and told her that some of her “friends” let her know that Leah had been diagnosed with Bipolar disorder and was presumably taking medication to help control her symptoms. This could be part of why Leah had been getting a little more out of control than the rest of the group.
One thing that Ramona didn’t note was that Leah being on medication means she’s doing something about the issue. She’s trying to better herself and being on medication is almost never a quick fix. Leah is obviously aware of her illness and having Ramona tell the world about it isn’t helpful in any way. “When you start talking about ‘Leah has depression. She’s on pills!’ It’s just a line that you don’t cross,” Leah told Dorinda Medley.
Leah’s reaction to the news was nothing but mature, though. It was hard watching her be treated that way because of an illness that she has worked hard to get under control. No one is perfect, and though Leah got a little too wild a few times, she doesn’t deserve to have it held over her head for the rest of the season.
Besides being rude, that is really going to strain the already strained relationship between Ramona and Leah. Based on how they seem to feel about one another post-filming and pre-reunion, things will get worse before they get better.
On another note, Luann really impressed us with her spa day for the members of The Fortune Society. She invited some of the women from the group to the spa, complete with snacks and makeovers. Their mission is to help support those getting out of prison and promoting a “successful re-entry” into the world. Luann may be self-involved, but she got major points for that one.
The Real Housewives of New York is on Thursdays at 9 PM ET!
