RHOBH: Has Lisa Vanderpump’s Villa Blanca closed for good?
By Amanda Cline
Villa Blanca has closed after being regularly featured on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills for events hosted by Lisa Vanderpump.
The rumblings about Lisa Vanderpump and Ken Todd’s Villa Blanca are getting louder by the minute. On Thursday, People posted that the Beverly Hills eatery had closed its doors for good after shutting down for COVID-19 concerns. The restaurant was regularly featured on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills for events and dinners.
Lisa confirmed to The Daily Mail that their 12-year lease was up and that they were indeed closing the location, but hoped to find a new lease elsewhere. Lisa said that though there were many rumors as to why they closed, they were untrue. “We are indeed going to be closing up our doors for good,” she told the paper.
Earlier in June, The Sun reported that Ken and a crew of people were seen “renovating” the establishment, but it looked more like they were emptying it out. Photos show moving trucks filled with mirrors, floral arrangements, tables, and chairs.
A note was left on the front door indicating that they were closing for painting and refurbishment, but it appears a bit more permanent. The windows have been painted over with white paint to hide whatever is left inside. On their website, there is still a note indicating they are closed under advisement from the local government.
Back in 2019, Bravo indicated that Villa Blanca had “revamped the decor” and the chairs featured in the article are the same ones being loaded into the back of a moving truck. The restaurant has been involved in two sexual harassment cases, one in 2014 filed by pastry chef Martha Diaz and another in 2017 from former staff member Karina Bustillos. Both cases probably had something to do with the untimely closing.
According to Lisa’s Twitter, Ken is recovering from back surgery in late June. Former friend Kyle Richards was on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen last week, and when Andy Cohen asked about the situation, Kyle said she was not surprised.
Kyle added that many of the restaurants in the area had been hit hard and had not been open since March, so it was not a fate that Villa Blanca suffered alone. All signs are pointing to the obvious: Villa Blanca has served its last glass of Vanderpump Rose.
