Contrary to popular belief, Southern Charm has not been cancelled and the cast has been spotted filming in Charleston as of this week.
The cast of Southern Charm dwindled earlier this summer when Cameran Eubanks quit, followed by Naomie Olindo and Chelsea Meissner shortly after Cameran. Kathryn Dennis angered fans when she used the monkey emoji in response to a Tweet and was accused of starting the rumors that Cameran’s husband was having an affair. Given all of this, many viewers assumed the show was done. However, Charleston fans spotted the cast filming on June 17 in two different areas.
First off, it appeared that either Danni Baird or Madison LeCroy were spotted filming with new cast member Leva Bonaparte at the John C. Calhoun statue. It isn’t clear what they were doing there, but there have been protests to take down the statue lately and they thought it was the correct time to film. Where was Kathryn Calhoun Dennis, though?
Austen Kroll was also spotted out and about at Tavern & Table with cameras this week, so it is safe to say they have, once again, resumed filming. This will be the fourth attempt at filming since they started getting footage for the seventh season back in 2019.
While many Bravo stars have been fired in the last few weeks for their indescreitions, Kathryn has somehow skated by. Many viewers have called for the cancellation of the show based on their glossing-over of certain historical events, especially that of the plantations featured on the show. Instead of educating viewers on the atrocities that took place, they basically note that the property is pretty and boasts many different kinds of vegetation.
Right now is a pivotal time for everyone, but Bravo is certainly under a microscope for how they treat casual racism by their cast members. Southern Charm is a big offender in that category, so it will be interesting to see how the next season turns out, all things considered.
Southern Charm will be back later in 2020…hopefully.
