RHONY: Dorinda Medley is mad about Tinsley Mortimer’s fairytale ending
By Amanda Cline
At the start of the RHONY season, we knew Dorinda Medley was going to have a rough season, but she’s still sinking lower with each passing episode.
Tinsley Mortimer went to her boxing coach after another run-in with Dorinda Medley so she could get some frustration out. “I don’t like arguing….I think she likes to fight.” This basically sums up Dorinda’s entire existence this season, she just wants to fight. It did come out in the episode that Dorinda had ended her relationship with John Mahdessian, which surely contributed to her behavior on RHONY this season, but still doesn’t excuse it.
Dorinda said that with the flooding of her house, her daughter Hannah moving out, her breaking her rib, and breaking up with John – she feels like she’s finally mourning the loss of her late husband, Richard. Of course, Tinsley said it was a bit hypocritical Dorinda didn’t want to share more about John since that was her major issue with Tinsley and Scott Kluth. When Tinsley questioned it, Dorinda shot back with, “Listen. My gum lasts longer than your relationship.”
She continued with, “You’re invisible.” And then, “I think Tinsley needs a nap.” She finished mocking Tinsley’s request for curly hair at the fashion show earlier in the season. Leah McSweeney said, “If this is someone who is not interested in Tinsley, what does someone look like who is interested in Tinsley?” Dorinda comes off as absolutely obsessed with Tinsley.
“I wanted to die when Richard died.”
Dorinda seems to be coming to terms with the fact that her fairytale life ended a long time ago and she’s just now picking up the pieces. But does she think that Tinsley has a fairytale life and that’s why she is so jealous? Is she trying to somehow take away Tinsley’s fairytale because she’s jealous?
“I am 55 this year and this is not what I planned. This is not the story that I wrote.” The issue is that all of this is very sad, and it is tragic that Richard died so young, but none of this has anything to do with Tinsley. Tinsley’s life has no impact on Dorinda’s story. Dorinda’s life has no impact on Tinsley’s fairytale. So why won’t Dorinda let it go?
Knowing that Tinsley left without finishing out the season of RHONY to go be with Scott in Chicago makes a lot of sense now. Why would she stick around just to be harassed by Dorinda? It seems that Dorinda realizes that Tinsley still has the opportunity to have the fairytale that was taken from her, and she can’t come to terms with that.
It really is a sad day when someone is seething with jealousy over someone else’s happiness instead of just focusing on their own happiness. Stealing someone else’s joy will never give you joy. Know that.
