Vanderpump Rules: Would you go to Jax Taylor or Tom Sandoval’s party?
By Amanda Cline
The cast of Vanderpump Rules is forced to choose sides as Jax Taylor rages on his friends again and Brittany Cartwright is left to defend him.
While Vanderpump Rules season eight is still trucking along, the show moves further and further away from what made it a hit each day. While the focus at the start of the season was on the magical, wonderful, perfect wedding of Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright, it is clear the honeymoon is over. Jax has been back to his old, psychotic, Adderall-addicted self while Brittany is left reeling at the change.
In the same vein, Brittany’s real personality is also starting to show. Jax has been an absolute nightmare to everyone lately, Brittany included, but it is clear that she doesn’t want to take the heat for his actions. Katie Maloney said it best, “All of this is happening because of Jax.” Jax decided to throw a pool party, while Tom Sandoval decided to throw one on the same day – forcing the cast to pick a side.
Ariana Madix placed the blame squarely on Jax as well, saying that she is married to the problem. “You are collateral damage at this point.” Based on Brittany’s behavior on the day of the party, it seems she is coming to the realization that we all came to long ago – she is legally tied to Jax now and that isn’t good. The scariest part is that Jax is so much older than the rest of the group, you would think he had some of this figured out already.
Since the wedding has been over, Jax has been doing his best to get more camera time. Inviting James Kennedy to DJ at his pool party just confirms that Jax is desperate to stay relevant – he hates James but knows that means he will have more control over the episode.
If Vanderpump Rules ever gets canceled, it will be a dark time for Jax and Brittany. Their entire relationship has been on camera and has been dictated by storylines and production. What happens when it all stops? They are left with each other, and at this point, that seems like a pretty dark future.
On another note, a group of 30 and 40 somethings fighting over a pool party is exactly the kind of drama I want to see on television right now, psychotic behavior aside.
Vanderpump Rules is on Bravo every Tuesday at 9 PM.
