If you haven’t bee watching Below Deck Sailing Yacht, you should be. The tiny spaces and constantly tilting boat make for a dramatic time.
Below Deck Sailing Yacht is the newest in the Below Deck franchise but doesn’t seem to be catching steam like the normal motor yacht-based shows. However, I think the drama is worth our time and here’s why. First off, the couple on the boat, Paget Berry and Ciara Duggan, are 100% doomed. They’ve mentioned that Paget used to work on a boat for Ciara’s family which led to love once she was of legal age (oop). Meanwhile, Georgia Grobler is flirting with Paget in front of Ciara any chance she gets. Ciara keeps giving Georgia dirty looks as if her boyfriend isn’t 50% guilty in this scenario. This is not going to end well.
Second, chef Adam Glick and chief stew Jenna MacGillivray were already making out four episodes into the season. That never leads to anything good, especially since the area they both work in is about four square feet. Adam says he never makes out with his chief stew but I think that’s untrue.
Interior and exterior…or not
Third, Captain Glenn Shephard seems blissfully unaware of everything going on. Perhaps a sailing yacht requires more attention than the regular motor yachts – but he’s not around much. The team feels very disjointed. It comes across more like teams of two (Paget & Ciara, Adam & Jenna, Madison Stalker & Georgia) than an interior and deck crew. Parker McCown is just on his own in his own world.
Jenna seems completely infatuated with Adam for our fourth reason, which is making her a terrible chief stew. While a charter guest was “curling” poor Madison against her will, Jenna was gleefully cleaning glassware while staring at Adam. She’s bee doing that a lot, actually – cleaning glassware and staring ay Adam.
CHAOS
But the final reason is the chaos. When the boat goes from using the motor to sailing, everything on the boat tips into chaos. Chaos, much like last night’s episode where the guys went to a night club until 5 AM and Paget thought sending his small girlfriend to retrieve them from the club was a good idea. Really, the management on this boat is lacking. The chief stew spends 90% of her time cleaning glasses while her staff works hard to keep the boat in shape. I don’t think she left the galley once the last episode.
Poor Madison was alone in the galley at 3:30 AM making grilled cheese with ham for the guests because Jenna was sleeping. She’s being manhandled and tossed in the air and Jenna is, once again, cleaning glasses. I can’t wait to watch Jenna clean more glassware next week.
Below Deck Sailing Yacht is on Mondays at 9 PM ET!
