Real Housewives of New Jersey: How is Joe’s attitude impacting Teresa and the girls?
By Amanda Cline
The Real Housewives of New Jersey has given us an interesting perspective of seeing how the family deals when the parents are away for extended periods.
The Real Housewives of New Jersey finished the drama with Teresa Giudice forgetting her wallet on the way to visit Joe Giudice. Joe Gorga rescued them and sent photos of the driver’s license and birth certificates needed to visit Joe. THANK GOODNESS. Thank all of the pasta in Italy, because the girls were allowed to see their dad after all.
The impact on both sides of the family
While Teresa is doing everything she can for the girls, they do not seem to understand that she is doing everything she can for them. We’ve seen Gia, the oldest daughter, have many conversations with her mom and dad. Though her dad was locked in a detention center for most of the calls on this season, he’s still in a LOT of scenes. He’s like an angry ghost on the phone.
But Joe hasn’t been keeping the peace over the phone. He’s been pretty mean to Tre and has definitely been causing arguments. This, again, is understandable from our point of view, but it is still mean! “I just want you to know I feel nothing for you,” he told her over the phone. Joe followed that up by telling Teresa to go find someone else to be with.
When Teresa and Gia were prom dress shopping, Joe told Teresa that he never wanted to marry her in the first place. Teresa says Joe mentioned that no one would want to be with her anyway, due to her recent history with the legal drama. You can watch the whole scene on Bravo’s website.
The light at the end of the tunnel
Now that Joe is out of the detention center and is in Italy, his attitude seems to have improved. Same with Gia. I’m sure she was given a lot of responsibility as the oldest daughter in the house while her mom was away. But is Teresa putting Gia in the middle, or was Gia already in the middle? It seems like she was privy to a lot of information and conversations that her younger sisters were not.
Since Gia is away at college now and she can speak with her dad whenever she wants to, I imagine she will realize all that Teresa did for her and her sisters eventually.
It was hard on the entire family while Joe was away, and before that, while Teresa was away. But the girls, Teresa, and Joe made it through..even if the marriage didn’t. It will be interesting to see how the Giudice family continues to evolve in the next few years.
The Real Housewives of New Jersey is on Bravo Wednesday nights at 8 PM!
