The Real Housewives of New Jersey family has had a tough time dealing with Joe’s absence, but are his phone calls making things worse?

During this season of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, Joe Giudice seems to be more involved than ever – though he isn’t even physically there.  It seems that with every scene with Teresa Giudice and their daughters, Joe is there for a phone call.  At first, the calls were nice enough.  Just Joe checking in to say hi and see how his family was doing that day.  But now, Joe seems to be calling to ruin the mood and Teresa says his calls turn the girls against her.

During a Mother’s Day breakfast, all four of the daughters stepped in to make Teresa breakfast.  Gia, Gabriella, Milania, and Audriana Giudice made pancakes, got flowers, and wrote a nice card for their mom.  As they sat down to enjoy the meal, Joe called from the ICE detention center to say Happy Mother’s Day.

The call started happily enough but turned into a mess when Joe mentioned that he bought Teresa the same type of necklace the girls bought her.

He went on to say she has a terrible memory and the girls agreed with him to the point where it ruined the mood.  “My wife’s brain is mush!”  You can watch the awkward clip on BravoTV.com. Mother’s Day is a difficult day for Teresa as it is after losing her mom, and Joe knows that.

The week prior, Joe called while Teresa and Gia were shopping for prom dresses.  He apparently was not nice to Teresa and again and “ruined” the experience with his attitude – just from a phone call!  After, Teresa asked if Joe was going to apologize to her but Gia asked that her mom drop the argument and move on.

Earlier in the season, Joe called while Teresa and her father, Giacinto “Nono” Gorga, were in the kitchen cooking.  Joe was in a bad mood and said, “I’m here now, I’m getting deported, that’s all there is to it.”  After Joe was done complaining, Nono said, “I slap your husband.  He never did nothing right. He did everything wrong.  Six times I told him, go make a citizen.”

Recently, the pair announced their separation after 20 years of marriage.  Joe was not in a great place after being locked up for four-plus years, but his attitude certainly had an impact on his family.

But was he doing it on purpose, or was his attitude to be expected from all he was going through?  Either way, you can see how it affected his family in a negative way, and I’m sure he did not want that.  But maybe he did, Joe isn’t exactly a selfless angel.

The Real Housewives of New Jersey is on Bravo Wednesday nights at 8 PM!
