The fourth season of RHOD just wrapped after a dramatic season and reunion, but things got worse for Brandi Redmond after it was all over.
The women of RHOD were left dealing with LeeAnne Locken’s racist comments for more of the season, but things really went haywire during the cast trip to Thailand and the finale party. LeeAnne used the word “Mexican” in a derogatory manner towards her co-star, Kary Brittingham, and the rest of the ladies did not appreciate it. Especially Brandi Redmond.
But then in the wake of the first Real Housewives of Dallas reunion episode where Brandi told LeeAnne to “have a seat” in a metal chair to receive her verbal punishment – someone released a video of Brandi being insensitive.
The video showed Brandi squinting her eyes and speaking in an accent as she said: “They ask me what Asian I am because my eyes, they squinty.” Brandi’s daughters are behind her laughing. When the clip first showed up, Brandi tweeted and defended her actions. In a now-deleted tweet, she said, “It’s a good impersonation if I do say so myself and there was no harm done.” Well, that didn’t go well.
Brandi tweeted shortly after that she sincerely apologize for her actions…but the damage was done.
On the podcast, Weekly Dose of BS, with Stephanie Hollman, Brandi was noticeably missing from this week’s podcast. When the podcast posted about the new episode on their Instagram page, the comments were flooded with comments about Brandi’s video.
The account responded to a comment saying that Brandi’s absence didn’t sit well with them that she was not just skipping to save face, but had checked in somewhere to “reflect,” noting “Brandi has checked in to a wellness center to reflect and better herself.” The comment said that Brandi would be back next week.
Unfortunately for Brandi and Stephanie, the timing could not be worse. The Weekly Dose of B.S. Live Tour has a show in Austin, Texas on Wednesday, January 22, 2020.
Stephanie was on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen last week and said that Brandi was “struggling with the shame” of her actions.
Stephanie agreed her friend made a horrible mistake, and Brandi seems to understand the repercussions of her actions, but sometimes the court of public opinion can be harsher than a court of law. It will be interesting to see what unfolds with the situation this week and how Brandi handles leaving the “wellness center.”
The Real Housewives of Dallas will hopefully be back later this year…
