Real Housewives of Orange County: Is Emily Simpson’s marriage an “arrangement?”
By Amanda Cline
The Real Housewives of Orange County stars are slamming each other over their different marriages. Is one marriage better than the other, though?
The Real Housewives of Orange County stars have very different marriages, and there is nothing wrong with that! Emily Simpson and Braunwyn Windham-Burke are going at it! But not in the threesome way.
If you haven’t seen it, while in Miraval, the ladies discussed their marriages in the hot tub after a few skinny, spicy margaritas. Braunwyn said that she and her husband, Sean, will occasionally bring another lady in the bedroom with them. We’ve also heard Emily say that she and her husband, Shane, weren’t really “in love” when they got married. As far as I understood it, it was an arrangement.
So, anyway
On Tuesday night, Braunwyn was on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, and got asked what she thinks of Emily and Shane’s marriage. Braunwyn said she thought it was an arrangement, but that they were “great parents.” Gary Janetti chimed in to say, “She seems unhappy.” From the viewer’s standpoint, I think we might all agree with Braunwyn. Shane doesn’t seem to care about Emily in the least. He’s barely around, and when he is, he’s rude and sarcastic.
Obviously, Emily didn’t love that comment. She took to Instagram to say that a “real” marriage must consist of cheating and threesomes. “Thank you for being the pinnacle of a ‘real’ marriage Braunwyn.”
Regardless
Braunwyn has a point. What works for them won’t work for everyone. If Emily and Shane have a co-parenting relationship that works for them, that’s great. Perhaps if their co-star, Gina Kirschenheiter, hadn’t suggested that Sean probably cheats on Braunwyn and that’s why they participate in extracurricular marital activities, we wouldn’t be having this argument right now. Thanks, Gina!
The problem is that Emily is being super defensive about a pretty benign comment. It almost seems like…she knows her marriage is an arrangement. Dun dun dun.
The Real Housewives of Orange County is on Bravo at 9 PM every Tuesday.
