Vanderpump Rules: Let’s face it, we need some new cast members and better storylines
By Amanda Cline
Vanderpump Rules is hopefully getting a much-needed new group of girls and guys to make drinks and shout at each other at SUR.
Based on various social media postings throughout the summer, I think it is safe to say Vanderpump Rules is getting some much needed new cast members.
The original gang consisted of the Sexy Unique Restaurateur and owner of the Sexy Unique Restaurant that the show revolves around, Lisa Vanderump, and Kristen Doute, Katie Maloney-Schwartz, Tom Sandoval, Scheana Shay, Jax Taylor, Stassi Schroeder, and Tom Schwartz. Unfortunately, as things do, the cast got much too self-aware and much too…unbearable. The addition of Ariana Madix, James Kennedy, Lala Kent, and Brittany Cartwright kind of put a band-aid on things, but also kind of made everything worse simultaneously.
Earlier in the summer, we reported that Dayna Kathan, Dana Caprio, and Raquel Leviss had been spotted working at SUR and attending events. Billie Lee also gave her two weeks’ notice at the start of the summer saying she was done with the show.
Since most of the storylines are know, it’s kind of boring already. We know Katie and Tom “weren’t actually married,” we know Jax and Brittany got married, Stassi and Beau got engaged, Lala and Randall Emmett got engaged, the whole crew is mad at Kristen about Carter, Ariana and Tom are coming out with a book, and apparently Shcheana made some new friends. The only storylines we don’t know, are the ones involving the new kids.
On the normal Housewives franchises, the cast gets a few new members if things are becoming stale. With Vanderpump Rules, the main cast has been the main cast for a while. Though a few people have been tossed in the mix or fired (ahem, Kristen) the drama between the cast members has been boring and inorganic and boring. I mean, is this show going to be renamed Vanderpump Rules: I’m Getting Married? Hopefully, some new, dramatic and loud bartenders and hosts grace our televisions soon…before anyone else gets engaged.
Vanderpump Rules is currently filming for the eighth season on Bravo.
