The Real Housewives of Potomac was an emotional roller coaster last night, at least for Ashley Darby.

The Real Housewives of Potomac was, once again, heavy on the Ashley Darby and Michael Darby drama, with some other RHOP housewives sprinkled throughout.

Ashley Darby BOUNDS into their Australian restaurant, Oz, to meet up with Gizelle Bryant, smiling ear to ear and jumping for joy.  In contrast, Ashley shuts down the Michael conversation pretty coldly.  Ashley says when she is comfortable with the discussion, she will be sure to fill everyone in. She also tells her they are still actively trying for a baby in the midst of all of this.

A much-needed therapy session

Ashley goes to therapy to talk about the allegations. She says when the news broke, she felt like it was not real. She goes on to say that she put on a smiling face in order to not appear upset, or weak.

Ashley says she feels like Michael is a paternal figure in her life since she did not have one growing up.  Ashley’s therapist says, “I have to do the right thing in order to not make him disappear,” which is a lingering fear Ashley might have since her father disappeared.

Ashley and her mom discuss how her father left, and how she was only a year old when he left. Ashley hasn’t spoken to him since she was three.  Ashley found him on facebook and sent him a message trying to connect with him.  Apparently, he blocked her when he got the message.

Ashley is interested in re-connecting with her father because she is trying to have a child of her own now.  Knowing your family history of illnesses can be very important.

Breaking the fourth wall

Monique Samuels, Candiace Dillard Basset, and Karen Huger meet up for dinner and end up discussing the allegations against Michael. The husbands are also in attendance.

Monique ends up breaking the fourth wall in order to discuss the cameras filming during the altercation. I love when reality stars break the fourth wall.

This term, breaking the fourth wall, relates to the invisible wall that separates characters or actors from the audience.  In this instance, it means the characters, i.e. the cast of The Real Housewives of Potomac, have acknowledged the fact that there are cameras filming them.

Monique says that since they were filming during the incident, everyone was mic’d up, being followed by cameras, and in the presence of cameras at all times – someone was bound to catch some of the incident.  Candiace’s husband, Chris, was apparently called in as a witness in the case since Candiace, Chris, and Robyn were actually there when it happened. I just wonder what side he was called for – Michaels or the cameraman?

They are letting these details come out at a glacial pace, but I can’t wait to see what happens next week. It blows my mind that Ashley is going through all of this and simultaneously trying for a child. What a stressful way to start that journey.
