The Real Housewives of New York: Upstate Girls recap

The Real Housewives of New York has me singing “Upstate Girls,” she’s been living in her upstate world…I bet she’s never had a backstreet guy, I bet her mama never told her why. And so on.

The Real Housewives of New York crew is headed upstate to visit Luann de Lessep’s new home in the Catskills.  The one with all the round corners so bad vibes have nowhere to hide.  Luann gave Bravo a tour of the home earlier this year if you’d like to see more.

The journey upstate

Real Housewives of New York star, Sonja Morgan, gets in a luxury van complete with a TV, a dash cam, and even a bathroom!  And she chooses to use this time to brush Marley (her dog) with her own personal hair brush en route to Luann’s home.

Dorinda Medley goes to introduce herself to a shop owner near her new apartment.  First, flowers.  Then, off to the cheese store to sample cheese at the Ideal Cheese shop. Dorinda is living the dream.

Luann is still taking huge offense to Bethenny Frankel going home to be with her daughter on Halloween night.  She senses that there is trouble in the form of Tinsley Mortimer, Bethenny, and Dorinda traveling in an SUV headed straight for her circular house.

They propose a drinking game that revolves around how many times Luann says cabaret during their stay. If they take a shot each time Luann says cabaret, we are going to lose 50% of our RHONY cast.

Ramona Singer does a great monologue in response to The Countess’ cabaret obsession:

“Luann’s on this high horse. She walks around like, ‘I am a cabaret star. Do you know who I am? My name? Cabaret star. Darling, wont you do this for me? And that for me? I’m a cabaret star.”

Gather ’round, ladies

After a trip ’round the round house for a tour, the Real Housewives of New York ladies are all very supportive of this purchase.  Luann basically requires compliments and encouraging comments during all waking hours to appease her these days, so only positive comments about the property are allowed.

At this point, Tinsley and Bethenny have officially started the “cabaret” drinking game.

All of the Real Housewives of New York women are very interested to learn that Barbara Kavovit has been with a woman.

And then, we finally get to the argument about Bethenny going home to take care of her daughter instead of watching Luann’s shallow halloween cabaret. This argument is going to carry us through the rest of the season, I’m assuming.

Bethenny mentions that she has an 8 year old at home that is her priority, but Luann is having none of it.  She lets Bethenny know that she is also a mother, even though her children are between the ages of 20 and 25.

The argument ends, only due to the episode coming to an end, but we get the ever foreboding “to be continued…” message that lets us know this will be continued next week.

Not much happened this episode, but it definitely set the stage for some exciting arguments next week.  Ramona Singer hasn’t even shown up yet!

Real Housewives of New York will be back next Wednesday at 9 PM ET on Bravo to continue the argument between Luann and Bethenny.  Hopefully we get to see the conclusion of the Cabaret drinking game, too.    Drink up!
