Teddi Jo Mellencamp opens up about son’s condition on RHOBH

Last night’s RHOBH gave fans an inside look at Teddi Jo Mellencamp’s family. 

Being the new kid on the block isn’t easy, and when it is the new girl on Housewives, it’s even harder. Teddi Jo Mellencamp became the fresh face this season on RHOBH. Her connection is Dorit Kemsley, though many suspect she may have met the other women before.

It seemed that last night’s episode was focused on Dorit and PK. They focused on her birthday and invited the women over for dinner. While it looked like things were going well with Dorit and her frenemies, Erika and Lisa Rinna, there was an awkward moment.

Jagger came out and when he sat at the table with his mom, he blurted out that Erika was the “bad guy.” Of course, Dorit denies she planted anything, but his words were quite clear. The look on Teddi’s face was priceless, especially since she was filled in about both Lisa Rinna and Erika via Dorit.

There was also an intimate get together with just Teddi Jo Mellencamp, her husband, Edwin, and the Kemsleys. During their conversation, the topic of more children came up.

Teddi and Edwin both admitted that after what they experienced with Cruz, they would not be having more children. Up to this point, fans haven’t really gotten to know Mellencamp on a personal level, but this changed after last night.

It was revealed that Teddi Jo Mellencamp and Edwin Arroyave used IVF to conceive Cruz. There were several female embryos and only one male. The couple decided to implant the little boy, and from there, their lives changed.

Mellencamp’s birth wasn’t bad, but she was immediately shaken when the nurses rushed her baby boy off her chest and called a code blue. Cruz wasn’t breathing and it was clear to Edwin, things were serious. He talked about how he began to pray and thought that he was being punished for choosing a boy. Teddi also mentioned that, because she felt like they played God and chose the sex of their child.

As it turns out, Cruz is doing better now. He was diagnosed with a heart condition. Teddi explained it to Dorit and PK saying that everyone has three valves in their heart and Cruz has two, and the third one is rusty.
