As we figured earlier this week, NeNe Leakes has officially been removed from The Great Xscape Tour.

NeNe Leakes was removed as host of The Great Xscape Tour almost as quickly as she was added. The Real Housewives of Atlanta star has also reportedly managed to put her Bravo contract in danger. All of this drama because NeNe decided to respond to a heckler in the most disgusting way possible.

For those who may have missed it, NeNe Leakes fired back at a heckler during a stand-up comedy gig in Oakland last week. While that lone may not be alarming, what she said certainly is. NeNe told the obnoxious attendee that she hoped she got raped by her Uber driver on the way home. That’s about as low of an insult as one woman can possibly say to another.

That’s about as low of an insult as one woman can possibly say to another. NeNe is aware of that and has even apologized profusely. For some, it was apology accepted. Others have been adamant that after such a horrid comment, an apology is definitely not enough.

NeNe’s first lesson in losing gigs over offensive comments came when NeNe Leakes was officially removed from The Great Xscape Tour. We figured that was coming when a new tour poster was posted on social media by Kandi Burruss and NeNe’s name had been removed.

“Like many, we were dismayed by the recent remarks made by our talented colleague and friend Nene Leakes,” the group said in a statement. “As a result, we have decided to no longer proceed with her participation on our tour. It was an unfortunate incident for which Nene has since apologized and we wish her the best as she navigates this very difficult period.”

NeNe Leakes speaks out

NeNe Leakes has talked about what brought her to say such a horrible thing while on stage in Oakland. She claims that she had a “real breakdown” either while on stage or soon after.

“A lot of people know me as NeNe who’s laughing and talking, a lot of don’t know me as NeNe who would break down. I actually had a real breakdown,” Leakes said on Instagram.

“Trust and believe, I’m so okay, I’m in a great place today. I can’t say I haven’t been in a great place these last few days. I’m so okay with everything, I just haven’t talked a lot or spoken out a lot.”

What about RHOA?

Now that NeNe Leakes has been removed from The Great Xscape Tour, fans are worried that she might lose her spot on Real Housewives of Atlanta too. As many have pointed out, what Phaedra Parks did wasn’t that much worse. Her firable offense also involved rape, though she was busted telling a whopper of a lie rather than taking a shot back at a heckler.

The overall response to NeNe Leakes’ rape comment has been pretty harsh. Most RHOA fans know NeNe has a quick temper and a mouth to match. She’s said a lot of questionable things over the years and always seems to get a pass because she’s NeNe and she’s known for being a little extra.

It looks like many lines have been drawn now, though, and she may suffer quite a bit from this latest slip up. So far, there have been rumors that NeNe’s RHOA contract is in jeopardy but nothing concrete has been announced.

The way that Bravo works, even if they were going to fire NeNe Leakes, they likely woudn’t announce it. For the network and for RHOA, it seems that ratings always get way better if they just let the rumors fester out there until they have to confirm or deny.
