Hurricane Harvey hero: Bethenny Frankel pops up in Houston to help out
Real Housewives of New York star Bethenny Frankel is proving that she’s not all talk when it comes to helping out after a major disaster.
Bethenny Frankel jumped into gear soon after Hurricane Harvey devastated Houston and other parts of Southeast Texas. The RHONY star made headlines for her fundraising efforts despite her own current health battles.
Now, Bethenny has stepped up even more to help out hurricane victims. She even popped up in Houston on Saturday, surprising everyone.
So far, Bethenny says she has managed to put together over $300,000 in financial contributions and supplies to help Hurricane Harvey victims. This includes a large donation of feminine hygiene products and lots of bottled water.
“I just started calling contacts. Just, ‘Hi, who do you know? We need socks, we need underwear,’” Bethenny told People.

Fans of Real Housewives of New York already know that Bethenny Frankel’s B Strong Foundation is in a partnership with Dress For Success. That’s why she already pledged the first $20,000 to help restore the Corpus Christi Dress For Success office.
Bethenny explained that after Hurricane Harvey, the whole office was underwater. Now, many repairs need to be made and supplies need to be replaced.
When Bethenny touched down in Houston on Saturday, she met up with the local Dress For Success chapter to help out. Bethenny and a group of 200 volunteers busily handed out supplies and personal hygiene products like toothpaste and toothbrushes as well as socks, underwear and even bras.
In all, more than 500 families were able to get help from Bethenny Frankel and the Houston Dress For Success team. While many have shared how grateful they are to receive the help, it looks like it may be Bethenny who took the most away from the experience.
“I had just gone through a very bad experience, the worst thing I’ve ever been through,” Bethenny explained. “And when I got out of that, I realized people are dealing with much worse, and I felt like I had to do something to help. When the hurricane hit, I realized this is why I’m doing what I’m doing. It feels right to connect with the people in Texas.”
